Who we are

Gopher Boss is an app for Canadian trades and small businesses, operated by Gopher Boss Inc., an Ontario corporation (“we”). These terms are between us and the business that signs up (“you”). Everyone who signs in for your business uses the app under them.

A free beta

Gopher Boss is in a free beta, open only to businesses we invite. During the beta:

• It's free. If we ever introduce a price, we'll tell you first, and nothing is charged without your agreement.
• Features may change, be added or be removed, and there may be errors or interruptions.
• The app is provided as it is, without any promise or warranty beyond what the law requires.
• You can export your records at any time (Money → Download for your accountant), and we ask you to keep your own copy.

Your data is yours

Your business owns the information it puts into Gopher Boss: its customers, invoices, payments, expenses and other records. We use it only to run the app for you, as the Privacy policy explains, and we don't sell it.

You can download it as CSV files whenever you like, and again when you close your account.

Your part

You're responsible for:

• keeping your password and two-step sign-in safe, and giving each team member only the role they need;
• what your business records and sends through the app, including your invoices and sales taxes;
• keeping your books as the CRA and, in Quebec, Revenu Québec require (see below);
• having your customers' consent where Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) requires it for the messages you send through the app.

Keep a copy of your books in Canada

Gopher Boss's servers are in the United States. The CRA requires business records to be kept in Canada unless it authorizes another place in writing, and records kept outside Canada that are reached electronically from Canada aren't considered kept in Canada. The CRA may accept a complete copy kept in Canada, and it recommends keeping backups in Canada. So download your books each month (Money → Download for your accountant) and keep that complete copy in Canada, for example on your own computer. We can't promise the CRA will accept it in your case: ask your accountant. The app reminds owners each month.

Closing your account

You can close your account at any time (Team → Close this account). Before anything is deleted, you're offered every record to download and warned plainly; then everything is deleted at once and can't be recovered.

The beta may end, or become a paid service. If it ends, we'll tell you ahead of time so you can download your records.

Changes

When these terms or the Privacy policy change, the app shows you the new version and asks you to accept it before you continue.

Sections on limits of liability, disputes and the governing law will be added after legal review.
